Abundant Seed Sowing in Lockdown

Romans 10:14
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? (ESV)

Our core missionary task is to make disciples, but as Romans 10:14 says, how can they believe in Jesus if they have not heard of the Good News of Jesus. Using the metaphor that Jesus used in Mark 4, we need to be generous seed sowers of the gospel, and that must be the same in season and out of season (2 Tim 4:2).

So, here are some ideas then for us as a church to share the gospel in the current Covid-19 lockdown using social media.

Share Existing Invites

This is a straightforward one! Literally all you have to do is share something that your church, or someone that you trust has posted on their feed to invite your friends to join a meeting, course, etc.

It could be that you share the Online Sunday Service invite, an invite to a small group, or Discovery Bible Study.

At the moment at Community Church we are just about to launch Alpha Online. So if you are part of Community Church why not share our alpha invite to all of your contact on social media. Easy!

You can just share or retweet the post as it is, but even better if you could add a personal message saying something like “what a great course this is and that you would encourage anyone who wants to explore faith to sign up”, or “This really encouraged me….”

This is quite effortless invitational evangelism, and it would be great if everyone in the church could do this.

Your Story

There was a time in my life when ......

No-one can argue with your personal experience!

Something that we have been training everyone at Community Church to do is to share their 20 second testimony. You will need six words to anchor your story around. Two words to describe your life before Jesus, two words that describe what happened when you met Jesus, and two words to describe what your life is like now that you are following Jesus. Your story will start with the phrase “There was a time in my life when…” then use the six words to tell your story, and then finish by asking “Would you like a story like this? If so direct message me and we can explore further what it means to be a follower of Jesus”

With a little introduction, this should take no more that 30 seconds and can be filmed on your phone, tablet or laptop. Then put it out there and see what kind of response you get.

God’s Story

Good News

There is a place for a clear explanation of the gospel of Jesus on your social media streams. We use the “Three Circles” as a gospel presentation tool because it is quick, clear, biblical, and reproducible. Click here to have a look at my video introducing the gospel to all of my followers on social media.

You can just share this from my Facebook or Twitter stream, or download just the “Three Circles” video and add your introduction and details to this gospel presentation by clicking here. (If you are not part of Community Church here is a version without our logo)

However you engage online, do it for Jesus, as a good witness, and for the advance of His Kingdom.

We want to see many people turn and believe on Jesus and become followers of Him. If you do find someone who wants to follow Jesus, please start to disciple them by using the Commands of Christ using the three thirds discipleship structure. (Contact me if you don’t know what I am talking about !!)

Jesus is still building His Church, and he has assigned us as His ambassadors, so that we can preach the word wherever we go!

Blessings,

David
